f694f20d9b OpenWrt v24.10.5: restore version branch defaults
The v24.10.5 sync kept the release-tag version and version.date files
and set VERSION_CODE to a fixed revision. Development builds therefore
report the same revision and source date regardless of the commit.

Delete the two release-tag files and restore VERSION_CODE to
$(REVISION), following upstream's tag-then-revert flow. This is the
version-data part of bcfa0417febc; feeds.conf.default and
package/base-files/image-config.in remain unchanged.

version.mk: introduce prplOS Git based versioning
Henceforth, we will utilize the prplOS version throughout the
development cycle, determined by the output of the `git describe`
command. The version will be composed of:

 - The fixed version number of the upcoming release currently in
   development.

 - The abbreviated (8 characters) object hash of the most recent commit.

For instance, with the ongoing development of prplOS version 3.0.0 and
having the Git hash `5a2a69d`, the resulting version would be
`3.0.0-5a2a69d`.

d997477775 treewide: remove implicit SUBTARGET
Historically it's possible to leave the `SUBTARGETS` undefined and
automatically fallback to a "generic" subtarget. This however breaks
various downstream scripts which may have expectations around filenames:

While some targets with an explicit generic subtarget contain `generic`
in the filenames of artifacts, implicit "subtargets" don't.

Right now this breaks the CI[1], possibly also scripts using the ImageBuilders.

This commit removes all code that support implicit handling of
subtargets and instead requires every target to define "SUBTARGETS".

ff8e9a4ecb treewide: combine VERSION_SED and VERSION_SED_SCRIPT
We don't need two versions of this. The escaping quotes
is so that the sed commands aren't misinterpreted by shell;
it has nothing to do with the contents of the file, thus
one version is adequate.

In addition to backslash and ampersand needing to be escaped for

Pass everything through a macro filter to sanitize it.

5f3c96c285 build: adjust version number handling
Move the revision info to the VERSION_CODE variable and default VERSION_NUMBER
to CURRENT for master branch builds.

Also introduce a new menuconfig option CONFIG_VERSION_CODE which allows users
to override the revision value put into VERSION_CODE and adjust the template
files used by the base-files package to accomodate for the changed semantics.

While we're at it, also adjust the various URLs to match the current web site.
